The Maison

A house of night lenses, named for the red planet.

Six acetate frames, two lenses, and a simple idea borrowed from the Space Station.

Why a house of night lenses is named for Mars.

The Maison

Why a house of night lenses is named for Mars.

Mars is the red planet, and red is the end of the spectrum your body clock barely notices. That is the whole idea behind Noctis: keep the warm light, block the blue and green.

We started with one question: what would your evenings look like if your home’s light worked like the lighting NASA built for the Space Station? Six acetate frames later, the answer is a pair of amber lenses you put on two hours before bed.

Every frame is named for a place on Mars where we’ve landed or looked hardest. The lenses are named for its days and nights: Sol, a Martian day, and Noctis, after Noctis Labyrinthus, the labyrinth of the night.
